Truly Inspiring Memories

Alice Ryan, The White Rose Academies Trust Business Officer, continues to write about experiences from working within the Trust; read Alice's fifth blog below:

At the start of last week, I had the amazing opportunity to take our Trust Student Leadership Group (TSLG) to London alongside seven colleagues.

Prior to this trip, it was my responsibility to organise the two-night trip for 19 students and 8 members of staff. I thoroughly enjoyed this whole experience, as I knew that this trip would be a great memory for our students.

We managed to pack the two nights with lots of exciting activities including a tour around the House of Parliament, where we met MP Rachel Reeves who gave us her thoughts on Br-exit, encouraged our students to be more involved with politics and welcomed their questions.

As well as this, we visited the Lyceum Theatre where we watched the Lion King – which was amazing!

On the final day, we attended the WE Day Concert at the SSE Wembley Arena. This whole day was very inspiring and motivating, not only for the students but also for me personally. Many speakers spoke about their journey of overcoming major life changing experiences, for example; physical disabilities, stabbings, and personal loss – this was truly inspiring. I have to say the words that Prince Harry shared will resonate with me for a while.

This event has motivated my colleagues and me to create more opportunities for our TSLG students to be involved with charity work.

I am looking forward to working on more projects, including organising the Trust Reflection Event, which will be super exciting.
